The GUAM Secretariat has hosted a Regional Workshop on "Together against manipulation in sport competitions" for the GUAM member states on February 14 and today.
The event is held within the KeepCrimeOutofSport + project of the Council of Europe in cooperation with the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine and with the technical support of the Secretariat. The workshop was attended by 40 representatives from ministries and agencies, sport federations and the National Olympic Committees of Ukraine, Azerbaijan, Georgia and Moldova.
The purpose of the regional summit is to provide countries with the practical and technical assistance for creating national platforms aiming to fight against the manipulation of the competitions’ results by applying the Convention against Manipulation of Sport Competitions of the Council of Europe and other relevant methods on ratification and implementation of that Convention.
Seymur Salimli, the representative of UEFA on match fixing in Azerbaijan took part in the workshop.
