"Best of our squad will be on the field tomorrow"

A National Team published on: 16.11.2020 print
We bring to your attention the opinions of the head coach of the Azerbaijani national team Gianni De Biasi and team member Mahir Emreli at the pre-match press conference held within the group stage of the UEFA Nations League at the “Josy Barthel” Stadium tomorrow:
"Best of our squad will be on the field tomorrow"
Gianni De Biasi: “It is the last game of the group. We will fight against a team that has been playing together for 8 years. So far, we have trained only 30 times. The team is developing slowly. We create goal episodes, but we can't use them. The attack lacks precision at the last moment. Tomorrow will be a difficult game. I can say that it will be different from our debut game.
I think we experimented in the squad in the match with Slovenia. Tomorrow the best players in our team will be on the field. Unfortunately, for various reasons, Abbas Huseynov, Tamkin Khalilzadeh and Rahil Mammadov will not be able to help the team. It is an important game for us and we will try to win the last game.
We have good players. I pay attention to every detail, from the nutrition of the players to their rest. As I said from day one, we need to change the mentality. I explained to them that they have potential. I explained to the players that I qualified for the finals of the European Championship with a weaker team than them. Players must rely on their potential.”

Mahir Emreli:
“We know the potential of the opponent. We know it will be a difficult game. It is the last game of the group. We want to return to Azerbaijan as a winner. We will do our best for this.
In the first game, I received a red card and left my team in the minority. It is a thing that can happen to any player. I made a mistake and it cost me dearly. I do not think about revenge. We should not have lost the game in Baku. Although we were in the minority, we scored. It will be difficult for us if we do not get rid of the psychological impact of that game. I have already forgotten that moment.
As for scoring fewer goals, we had the opportunity to excel in every game, but we could not use it. I would not connect this to inexperience or bad luck. There is a game, you make the most of the opportunity, there is a game, it's not taken.”
