“Despite being in the minority, I saw a real team on the pitch”

Here are the remarks of head coach Gianni De Biasi from the post-match press conference after the friendly match between the national teams of Azerbaijan and Latvia played in Malta today:

“Despite being in the minority, I saw a real team on the pitch”
“Of course, being one person in the minority changed our game plan. We started the game well. We had a chance to score by Renat Dadashov and Dmitry Nazarov, but we were unlucky. After the game, I told the players that we could not be satisfied with the result, but despite the fact that we were in the minority, I saw a real team on the pitch. We fought until the last minute. Most of the players who were fighting today will be with us during the next games. In general, we will play four games in Nations League in June. We will need a larger squad.
Before the goal episode, there was a violation against us during the corner kick, but the referee ruled in favor of opposite side. I want to welcome Richard Almeida. He is one of the most experienced players in the squad. At this age, he played dynamically for 35-40 minutes, made a good impression, showed quality. Other players Renat Dadashov, Dmitry Nazarov and Salahat Aghayev also made a convincing impression. I am satisfied with the players. Of course, the result was not to our liking. However, I saw positive moments during the game.”
