FM: Qatar - Azerbaijan: Coaches’ opinions
Felix Sanchez (Head coach of the Qatar national team): “I congratulate all my players. Everyone tried, fought, played good football. I'm happy to have players who can show character. This is very important in games every 3 days. The game is 90 minutes. You can't dominate the whole game. We started the game badly, we lost the ball, so we had to play in defense. But this is part of the game. After the 25th minute, we started to play as we wanted, to create scoring chances. We deserved to score and we played well in the second half and achieved our goal. We managed to return in a very difficult game."

Gianni De Biasi (Head coach of the Azerbaijan national team): "Compared to the game with Portuguese team, I gave a chance to 10 new players today. We performed well in the first half, but after the break we played poorly. We played against a physically strong team. Some players need to improve. The performance of the new players I allowed to play satisfied me in the first half. But as I said, our game did not work after the break. International level games are difficult for footballers. What new players are capable of is revealed in such games. They must be ready for this pace of the game.
I never asked my players to play by passing backwards. We skillfully prevented the opponent's pressure. Unfortunately, we could not use the gaps. In the second half, we seemed to be physically backward."
