Following the postponement of EURO 2020 until the summer of 2021 and after a thorough analysis, as well as discussions with UEFA partners, the UEFA Executive Committee decided to continue the tournament under the name EURO 2020.
This decision allows UEFA to preserve the original idea of celebrating the 60th anniversary of the European Football Championship (1960-2020) solemnly.
The decision is also in compatiable with UEFA's commitment to ensure that EURO 2020 is sustainable and non-wasteful. Prior to the postponement of the tournament, a large number of branded materials had already been produced. Renaming the event could lead to the destruction and reproduction of these products.
