Head coach Gianni De Biasi and a national team player Mahir Emreli shared their opinions in the press conference held before the Azerbaijan vs Luxembourg match to be played within the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qualifying round:
Gianni De Biasi: (Azerbaijan national team head coach): "First of all, Happy Victory Day. Some players will not play due to their injury, but this is not an excuse. Luxembourg national team is a good team, having played under the same head coach for 12 years. Their young players play in high-level teams. We have only 8 clubs, most of them prefer legionnaires. We choose from about 40 players. We need to give young players a chance. Nothing in life is solved in a day.
Mert Celik has a problem. We are trying to solve it so that to make our substitutes scale wide. There will be some changes in the squad for tomorrow's game. Jalal Huseynov is a young player. I like his play. I’m intending to give him a chance in one of the next two games”.
Mahir Emreli: "I congratulate our people on the Victory Day. I'm worried about not being able to score a goal in the national team. But it does not depend on my will. Believe me, I expect a goal the most from myself. I hope I will break this spell tomorrow ".
