“We have to display our character on the pitch”

A National Team published on: 05.06.2022 print
During the pre-match press conference ahead of tomorrow's away match Belarus vs Azerbaijan to be held in Novi Sad, Serbia within the UEFA Nations League, Gianni De Biasi, head coach of Azerbaijan National team and a member of the team Bahlul Mustafazada commented the upcoming match:

“We have to display our character on the pitch”
Gianni De Biasi: “In football the important thing is a result. We must understand this. We had good goals chances during the game against Kazakhstan. Unfortunately, if you don't score, you can't win. After the match, I thanked the players. We analyzed our game. The opponent had two goal attempts and won. We had 15 goal attempts. We made small mistakes and as a result, we conceded goals. We will try to win tomorrow.
We analyzed the Belarusian team before the matches against Slovakia. They also play with three centre-backs. The left-footed player plays on the right and the right-footed player plays on the left. The team is without much imagination. They are about the same level as us. They have tall players; they can be more dangerous during the standard situation. However, their play will depend on us. They will play if we allow, but not if we do not. Just like, we did not give Kazakhstan a chance to play in the first half. We need to show some muscle. The most important thing is to display our character on the pitch. I know that my team has good qualities.
I have not made a definite decision about the squad. Today we will look at how someone feels physically. We have a long travel. Someone recovers faster, someone does not get it. We will try not to lose the balance and use the opportunities we created in the match.”

Bahlul Mustafazada: “We started the game against Kazakhstan very well, created enough scoring opportunities and played well in defense. We just couldn't score in the attack. As we missed scoring opportunities in the game against Kazakhstan, the pressure on us also increased and we conceded goals due to mistakes. We analyzed the rival team. Belarus, like Kazakhstan, plays with five defenders. However, Belarus is a more compact team than Kazakhstan. We must be creative against them. Therefore, we must increase our creativity and take advantage of opportunities. We will do our best to make both ourselves and the people of Azerbaijan happy by winning over Belarus.”
