The thoughts expressed by head coach of Azerbaijan Women's national football team, Siyasat Asgarov, during the pre-match press conference organized before the match against North Macedonia on June 8 within the FIFA Women’s World Cup qualifying round:
“Tomorrow we will play our last game within the tournament. I think this match will be difficult for us. Because the opponent won their last match and increased their number of points to 6. Moreover, since they will be playing at home, they will try to achieve maximum results.
Tomorrow's match is very important for us. Because we also want to increase our points. Unfortunately, despite playing well in the previous game and fighting until the end, we lost with a goal conceded in the last minute. This result upset us a lot. The team is also disappointed because of that. I think we deserved to win at least one point in that game, but in the end we lost. Nevertheless, we gained good experience and played well. This is one of the moments that makes me happy. As for the game against North Macedonia, we know that we will have a difficult match. However, we will fight for the maximum result and try to finish tomorrow's game with three points”.
