Based on the principle of “The way towards big football starts from the neighborhood”, starting from 2016 AFFA established project called “Məhəllə futbolu”, to promote a healthy lifestyle and increase the interest of kids towards football. Within the framework of the project, the mobile pitch was constructed in the remote areas of Baku.
The project was organized from summer 2016 in different neighborhoods of Baku, was continued from 2017 with the support of “Pasha Insurance” in Baku and other cities.
Several activities were organized on the mobile pitch such as trainings from the AFFA coaches, A National Team visits and matches between the member of the National teams and local people.
“Məhəllə futbolu” project was continued in March 2017 in Sheki and became a huge success. The pitch constructed at the street of 19th School in Sheki was used by pupils during sports lesson, and by inhabitants leaving nearby during other times of the day.
After, the project continued in 4 neighborhood of Baku:
1. Zabrat settlement, the yard of the 192th school
2. Bakcel Arena stadium’s neighborhood
3. Ahmedli settlement, Nasraddin Tusi street
4. Turkish Diyanet Foundation Baku Turkish Lyceum
Generally, during the 9 months period, around 2 thousand people played football on the mobile pitches. 89 % of them were boys, 11 % - girls. This initiative reached more than 96 thousand people in social media channels.
Starting from August 2019 “Məhəllə futbolu” will start again!
There are a couple of conditions for pitches to be constructed:
1. The pitch should match exact sizes as it is shown in the picture:
2) The surface of the pitch should be flat
3) The constructed pitch should not bother inhabitants of the neighborhood, and should not block the movement of the local people and cars.
4) One person from the neighborhood should be the final responsible for constructed pitch and provided equipment.
