Azerbaijan’s representative in the UEFA Champions League, FC Sabah, played the second-leg match within the second qualifying round. The club from Baku faced Finland’s KuPS Kuopio in an away match.
Having secured a 1-0 win in the first-leg match in Baku, FC Sabah defeated their opponent at Kuopio Central Stadium. Valdas Dambrauskas’s squad claimed a 2-0 win. Veljko Simić scored in the 53rd minute, and Joy-Lance Mickels scored in the 70th minute.
Thus, in addition to advancing to the third qualifying round, FC Sabah has secured a spot in the UEFA Conference League League phase. The Azerbaijani champion's opponent in the third round will be the winner of the tie between Lech (Poland) and Aarhus (Denmark). Lech won the first-leg match in Denmark 4-1.
Note that the UEFA Champions League third qualifying round matches will take place on August 4-5 and 11.
