Head coach of Azerbaijan Women's national football team, Siyasat Asgarov, expressed his thoughts to the AFFA press service after the away match against Andorra (3-1) played within the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup European qualifiers:
“First, I would like to congratulate my team on the victory. It was a very difficult game for us. The opponent was playing on their own field, wanted to score points, and opened the score with an early goal. However, we managed to score the equalizer immediately and made our job a little easier. In the first half, we tried to take the lead, creating many scoring opportunities. We couldn't take advantage of the opportunities we had. After the break, we found our game. The attack we worked on in training earned us a penalty. In the remaining minutes, we had full control, the girls kept the opponent without the ball. We are happy to have won”.
Note that Azerbaijan will face Andorra on April 18 at Bank Respublika Arena in Baku.
