With the initiative of AFFA and the support of Azerpocht LLC, new postage stamps have been released on the 80th anniversary of the legendary Azerbaijani football player Anatoliy Banishevskiy.
The new philatelic product reflects the rich sports heritage of A. Baniszevskiy. The issue consists of one postage stamp. At the same time, special postcards have been prepared on the occasion of the anniversary.
The circulation of the postage block is 2500, and the circulation of postcards is 1000 pieces. This initiative is of great importance in terms of preserving the legacy of A. Baniszevskiy and passing it on to future generations.
Note that Anatoliy Banishevskiy went down in history as one of the most prominent Azerbaijani football players of the 20th century. He took fourth place in the 1966 World Cup as part of the USSR national team and won a silver medal in the 1972 European Championship. At the club level, he became a bronze medalist of the USSR Championship in 1966 as part of FC Neftchi. Having played more than 50 games for the USSR national team, Banishevskiy was awarded the Shohrat order in 1996. In 2004, he was chosen as best player in Azerbaijan of the last 50 years according to UEFA.
