Azerbaijan’s representative in the UEFA Europa League, FC Qarabag, played the second-leg match within the first qualifying round. The Aghdam club faced Iceland’s Vestri in an away match.
Having gained a 3-0 victory in the first-leg match at home, FC Qarabag also defeated their opponent in the match at Trottarvöllur Stadium in Reykjavik. Gurban Gurbanov’s squad once again claimed a 3-0 win. The goals for the Azerbaijani side were scored by Jali Muaddib in the 5th minute, Pedro Bicalho in the 29th minute, and Zakaria Savo in the 57th minute.
Thus, FC Qarabag advanced to the second qualifying round. The Aghdam club’s opponent in this round will be the Bulgarian club CSKA Sofia. The matches for this stage are scheduled for July 23 and 30. FC Qarabag will play the first-leg match at home.
