FC Qarabag, Azerbaijan’s representative in the UEFA Europa League, played the second-leg match within the second qualifying round. The Aghdam-based club faced Bulgaria’s CSKA Sofia in an away match.
After playing out a goalless draw in the first-leg match at home, the teams also failed to score in the second-leg match at Vasil Levski National Stadium in Sofia. The game ended in a draw 0-0 after both full and extra time.
CSKA proved more accurate in the penalty shootout, securing a 5-4 win and advancing to the next round.
Qarabag, meanwhile, will continue their campaign in the UEFA Conference League third qualifying round. The Aghdam side’s opponent will be the Ukrainian club Dynamo Kyiv. Matches for this round are scheduled for August 6 and 13. FC Qarabag will play the first-leg match away.
