Aykhan Abbasov, head coach of Azerbaijan national team, expressed his views during the post-match press conference after the match (1-2) against Ukraine played in Krakow today within the 2026 FIFA World Cup European qualifiers:
“We knew it would be a tough game. We were even very worried yesterday. But our players showed character today. It was important to play against two big teams in three days. We asked our players to be relaxed. Maybe we should have won points. If Nariman Akhundzada seized a goal moment in the first minutes, it could have been different. I thank my players for their perseverance and character. We will have two games at home, I am hopeful. This team has potential. If we continue like this, we can be better”.
Azerbaijan national team will play the next match against Iceland in Baku on November 13.
