Rashad Eyyubov, head coach of Azerbaijan Under-21 team, expressed his views after the match (3-3) against Scotland played today in Baku within the UEFA Under-21 Championship qualifying round:
“It was a very difficult game. First of all, playing every three days is physically very demanding, but we managed to bring the players to the game in good shape.
Our game plan worked; we knew the opponent well and knew what to expect. We scored 3 goals against Scotland, which neither Portugal nor Czechia could do.
Unfortunately, we conceded one goal from a rebound and the others from set pieces. I am happy that the team reacted correctly after the defeat to Czechia, but at the same time I am very disappointed because we missed the victory in the last minutes.”
Note that Azerbaijan Under-21 team will play the next away match within the group on November 18 against Gibraltar.
