Azerbaijan’s representative in the UEFA Champions League, FC Sabah, played the second-le match within the first qualifying round. The club from Baku faced the Welsh team, The New Saints, in an away match.
Having secured a 2-0 victory in the first-leg match in Baku, FC Sabah also defeated their opponent in the game at Park Hall in Oswestry. Valdas Dambrauskas’s squad claimed a 2-1 win. Joy-Lance Mickels (28th minute) and Rahman Dashdamirov (42nd minute) scored the goals for the Azerbaijani side.
Thus, FC Sabah has advanced to the second qualifying round. The Azerbaijani champion’s opponent in this round will be the Finnish club KuPS. Matches for this stage are scheduled for July 21-22 and July 28-29. The club from Baku will host the first-leg match.
