NL: Luxembourg - Azerbaijan: Coaches’ opinions
Gianni De Biasi (Head coach of Azerbaijan national team): “It was an important game for us. We knew it would be a difficult game. In the first half, the opponent had chances to score. Thanks to our goalkeeper, he saved us from a real goal. Badavi Huseynov's injury disrupted our game plan. After his replacement, our game plan changed. We wanted to show a better game. We could play better technically and tactically. We had opportunities for that.
The COVID-19 pandemic disrupted our plans. We could not prepare better for the first match of the group. This team has potential. We need to convince the players and form a winning psychology in them. I think we are on the right track. We have a team that is disciplined and able to play aggressive football when the time comes.
There are no official games until March, we have to talk to the management. After some organizational work, we plan to hold a training camp and two test matches in late January and early February.”

Luc Holtz (Head coach of Luxembourg national team): “The game went as we expected. In the first half, our team showed a very high level of play. Unfortunately, we could not use the penalty. After the break, the Azerbaijan national team played better. Applying the pressure, they organized several counter-attacks. In general, it was an interesting game. The only drawback in the game was the goal”.
