AFFA President Rovshan Najaf expressed his views on the decision of the Bureau of FIFA Council to entrust Azerbaijan to host the first edition of the FIFA U-15 World Cup:
“By the decision of the Bureau of the FIFA Council, our country will host the inaugural FIFA U-15 World Cup & Festival 2026 for boys' teams in October of this year.
First and foremost, this decision is yet another remarkable outcome of the attention and care shown by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, H.E. Ilham Aliyev, towards the development of sports, including football, in our country, as well as the successful sports policy of our state. Entrusting this tournament to Azerbaijan, a nation with rich experience in organizing international competitions and large-scale, prestigious events, is a clear manifestation of our country's strong position as a sporting nation.
The selection of Azerbaijan to host the inaugural edition of the tournament, which will be held in a new format, also serves as another excellent example of the successful cooperation between AFFA and FIFA. In this regard, we express our gratitude to the FIFA leadership for the trust they have placed in AFFA. We sincerely congratulate the Azerbaijani football community on this momentous occasion.”
The first edition of the FIFA U-15 World Championship is scheduled to take place from October 22 to 31, 2026 in Azerbaijan.
