AFFA and Keshla FC discussed the stadium
In order to support the development of football in the regions, to operate the stadium efficiently and regularly, to increase the interest of fans, Keshla Football Club was offered to represent the city of the same name under the name "Shamakhi". In this regard, there was held a meeting of the Supervisory Board of Keshla Football Club, AFFA's proposal was discussed and approved.
After completing legal proceedings on this issue, it was decided to change the name of Keshla FC to Shamakhi Football Club and to hold home games at Shamakhi City Stadium in 2022. AFFA and Keshla FC will apply to UEFA to consider Shamakhi FC as the legal successor of Keshla Football Club, and there will be made appropriate changes only after this issue is resolved positively.
The youth teams and the academy of Keshla FC will continue their operation in Baku until the end of 2022.
Remind that the Shamakhi City Stadium with a capacity of 2,200 fans has been built by the financial support of UEFA and AFFA and will have a second category certificate from UEFA.
The first, second and third qualifying rounds matches of UEFA club competitions, as well as games of all age group national teams, except for the A-national team, can be held at this stadium.
President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva attended the opening ceremony of the stadium on November 1, 2021.
