Aykhan Abbasov, head coach of Azerbaijan national team, made a statement to the AFFA press service:
“To work for the Azerbaijan national team is a great honor and responsibility for every coach. I would like to express my gratitude to AFFA leadership for trust to me. I will do my best to justify this trust. The national team is the pride of each of us.
Both we and our players have a great responsibility. As a team, we will try to represent our country adequately both on and off the pitch. We want to achieve good results by uniting like a fist, with the right approach and team spirit. Azerbaijani fans have always been by the side of the national team. Their support is a great source of motivation for us. We will try to show a decent game in the upcoming matches and give hope for the future.”
Note that Azerbaijan national team will play against France on October 10 and Ukraine on October 13 within the 2026 FIFA World Cup European qualifiers.
