The futsal tournament in the southern region of Azerbaijan organized within the Football Lessons in Schools project implemented in Azerbaijan within the UEFA HatTrick program has completed.
A total of 10 teams from schools participated in the tournament organized among students of secondary schools operating under the Lankaran-Astara Regional Education Department. More than 100 students (girls and boys) competed in the competitions in the gym of Sutamurdov village secondary school in Lankaran city.
The home team, the team from Sutamurdov village secondary school, won the competition after defeating the team from secondary school No. 4 in the final match of the tournament. The team from secondary school No. 4 took second place, and the team from Hirkan village secondary school finished third.
At the end, an award ceremony was held for the winners. AFFA presented the winning team with a trophy and the teams that took the first three places with gifts. In addition, the players who distinguished themselves during the tournament were awarded prizes in various individual nominations. The awards were presented to the team members by the head of AFFA Grassroots Department, former football player Farrukh Ismayilov.
Note that the main goal of the Football Lessons in Schools project is to increase schoolchildren's interest in sports, especially football, contribute to the promotion of a healthy lifestyle, increase students' physical activity, and create conditions for instilling values such as teamwork, friendship, and fair play through football.
