Azerbaijan national team won the largest victory in its history in the match against St Lucia within the FIFA Series 2026 international tournament.
Aykhan Abbasov's team defeated their opponent 6-1 in the match at Sumgayit city stadium named after Mehdi Huseynzada breaking their record set in 1999 and 2017. Azerbaijan national team had previously achieved its biggest wins against Liechtenstein (4-0) within the UEFA EURO 2000 qualifying round and San Marino (5-1) within the FIFA World Cup 2018 qualifying round.
In addition, for the first time in the history of Azerbaijan national team, it scored more than 5 goals in a match.
