There was held a meeting with the winners of “Manchester United” the Forth Summer Soccer School within the joint organization of the Association of Football Federations of Azerbaijan and the Bakcell company today. A press conference about “Manchester United” Summer Soccer School was organized in Baku Olympic Stadium with the participations of AFFA General Secretary Elkhan Mammadov, Chief Sales and Marketing Officer of Bakcell Company Fedja Hadzic and head coach of the school Mick Bennett.
Firstly, the floor was given to Fedja Hadzic, Bakcell Chief Sales and Marketing Officer who spoke about the importance of the project and expressed his satisfaction with cooperation with AFFA:
“Within the partnership between AFFA and Manchester United we try to do our best in creating conditions for kids at the “Manchester United” Summer Soccer School which are implemented every year. These children are the future of Azerbaijani football and the pride for us. We hope the guys who visit Manchester this year will worthily represent Azerbaijan in the first place and then their football clubs, as it happens every year. On behalf of Bakcell, AFFA and "Manchester United" football club we wish every success to these young, talented players."
AFFA General Secretary Elkhan Mammadov gave information about the project and said "Manchester United" Fourth Summer Soccer School selections are covered Baku this time:
“For the fourth year the Association of Football Federations of Azerbaijan cooperates with Bakcell Company in organizing "Manchester United" Summer Soccer School. “Manchester United” Summer Soccer School plays an important role in the development of youth football as well as in the promotion of grassroots football in the country. The boys chosen during the training selection in Baku got the chance to visit the city of Manchester, to make a trip to Old Trafford Stadium, to spend time in the training camp of "Manchester United" FC and all of these along with increasing the kids’ love to football also left indelible remembrances in the memories of children. We hope this project will continue for many years and appreciate the support of Bakcell Company to football in Azerbaijan as well as believe that our cooperation will yield positive results in the future."
Then Manchester United Soccer School head coach Mick Bennett spoke about the selection process and noted that they are not restricted within the boys’ technical skills and stressed that they pay attention to their human qualities:
“According to the agreement, only 5 players are sent to Manchester each time. By this time, with the agreement of AFFA and Bakcell Company, one more boy from "MY" Soccer School in Baku got opportunity to visit the "City of dreams".”
After the press conference, 6 children passed the selection in the "Manchester United" Summer Soccer School in Baku and showed the highest skills and abilities during the trainings were given certificates entitling them to travel to Manchester.
It should be noted that the selected boys will be familiar with "Manchester United" football club and watch the match of the club during their visit which would be between 10-15 December. The costs associated with this trip will be paid by Bakcell Company.
Note, 9-12-year-old 32 children who successfully past the selections organized with the support of AFFA took part in the training camp led by the coaches, who were sent to Azerbaijan from “Manchester United” Soccer School, at “Manchester United” Summer Soccer School on September in 2016. “Manchester United” club presented special certificates to all participants of the training camp and 6 graduates showed the highest results took the opportunity to visit Manchester.
98 children develop their football skills and abilities at “Manchester United” Soccer School acting regularly at Baku Olympic Stadium at the moment. 6 children of them are graduates of Manchester United Summer Soccer School organized this summer. “Manchester United Baku” team of the school takes part in U-13 League and demonstrated decent results.
