Naib Asadov, Head of AFFA Compliance and Match Fixing Department and UEFA Match Fixing Officer, provided detailed information to the players about the concept of a collusive game, the differences between ordinary mistakes made during the game and intentionally manipulated behavior, as well as the serious damage such cases cause to the integrity and reputation of football.
During the session, it was emphasized that players are not only athletes, but also bearers of values, and it was noted that principles such as justice, honesty, responsibility and being an example play an important role in the professional activities of players. The main motives of the games discussed, in which games manipulation cases occur most often, the role of sports betting in this process and methods of influencing football players were explained through the presentation.
At the same time, discussions were held on the ethical duty of players, the steps they should take when faced with a suspicious or fixed-match offer, and practical situations (role play) regarding situations where silence is also a responsibility. Special attention was paid to the approaches made through social media, the tools used by manipulators, and the importance of properly managing footballers' public and private profiles.
During the session, it was stated that the relevant articles of AFFA Disciplinary Code adopted in 2025, participation in match fixing, attempts at such cases, or concealment of information are considered serious disciplinary violations, and specific examples from local and international experience were also presented to the players.
The main goal of the educational event is to maintain transparency and honesty in the football community, strengthen the fight against match fixing, and raise awareness among players in this area.
