Members of Azerbaijan Women's national football team met with the Minister of Youth and Sports Farid Gayibov. The meeting took place at the invitation of the Ministry of Youth and Sports and was attended by the players, coaches and technical staff members of the national football team.
During the meeting, the team's performance and results in the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup qualifying round were discussed. Farid Gayibov considered the national team's victory in 4 of 6 group stage matches and second place with 12 points as a high result.
The Minister congratulated the players, emphasizing the determined struggle and professional approach demonstrated by the team. He noted that the results achieved are of great importance for the development of women's football in the country and wished the team members success in future competitions. Farid Gayibov also noted that he believes that the national team will perform more successfully in the next season of the UEFA Nations League.
Then, Head of AFFA Women's Football Department, Zumrud Aghayeva, provided detailed information on the current state of women's football in the country, development directions and implemented projects. Head coach of Azerbaijan Women’s National team Siyasat Asgarov shared his thoughts on the team's activities, preparation process and upcoming goals.
At the end of the meeting, captain Sevinj Jafarzada presented Farid Gayibov with the Azerbaijan Women’s national team jersey as a souvenir.
The meeting took place in a friendly and productive atmosphere and ended with a group photo session.
