Qarabag, Azerbaijan's representative in the UEFA Champions League, played the second-leg match within the third qualifying round today. The team hosted North Macedonia's Shkendija in Baku.
The champion of Azerbaijan defeated their opponent 5-1 in the match at the Republican Stadium named after Tofig Bahramov. The goals for Qarabag were scored by Kady Borges (18th minute), Nariman Akhundzada (33rd minute), Marko Jankovic (35th minute, by penalty kick) and Leandro Andrade (59th minute). The other goal was an own goal in the 16th minute.
FC Qarabag also won the first-leg away match 1-0, so the team advanced to the play-off stage.
Qarabag will play against Ferencváros (Hungary) in the next round. The play-offs first-leg match will be played on August 19, while the second-leg match takes place on August 27. Qarabag will play their first match away.
