Head coach of Azerbaijan national team Aykhan Abbasov expressed his views at the post-match press conference after the match (1-3) against France played today at Tofig Bahramov Republican Stadium within the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying round:
“I would like to thank the fans. The atmosphere was great today. It has been a long time since there was such an atmosphere during the match of the national team. Despite the score, they supported the players until the end of the match. We were very enthusiastic today. We scored the first early goal. After the goal, the opponent stacked up against us. They were very dangerous in set pieces. I would like to thank our players, they showed determination in all our games. There is also progress in the team from a tactical point of view. We had a lot of losses. Despite this, we also gained new players. This qualifying round is over, we will now look ahead. These games give confidence to our players”.
Azerbaijan national team finished fourth in Group with one point.
