Head coach of Azerbaijan women's national football team, Siyasat Asgarov, expressed his thoughts to the AFFA press service after the friendly match against Kazakhstan (2-1) played at Shymkent city stadium:
“We have been here for a training camp since October 20. Today we played the first friendly match against a local team. Kazakhstan women's football has been on the rise in recent years. When we analyzed the opponent, we saw that they have strong players. Today's match can be divided into two parts. We performed very well in the first half, opened the score. We could have scored at least one more goal before the break. Kazakhstan also had dangerous attacks, but we played very carefully in defense. In the second half, the opponent changed their game plan, mainly trying to attack with long passes. This created some problems for us. We also conceded a goal during a set piece due to our own mistake. Despite this, we won. I would like to thank our team for showing character and doing everything they could to win the match from the beginning to the end.”
Note that Azerbaijan women's team will play the second friendly match against Kazakhstan on October 27.
