Ilham Aliyev received the President of FC Barcelona

Expressing his gratitude for warm welcome, Juan Laporta recalled his first visit to Azerbaijan during COP29 and shared how deeply impressed he was by Baku’s development. Mr.Laporta noted that he saw great potential for cooperation in Azerbaijan, and that is why he visited Baku for the second time within a short period.

During the meeting, they focused on Azerbaijan’s commitment to the development of sports, including football, and noted that prestigious international sports events and world-class football matches were organized in Azerbaijan according to the highest standards.

It was reported that the document on the establishment of the Barcelona Football Academy in Azerbaijan will be signed. The sides exchanged views on the future activities of the Academy and cooperation issues in the development of children's football in Azerbaijan.
