Head Coach of Azerbaijan futsal team Vitali Borisov shared his thoughts after the match between the Netherlands and Azerbaijan held within the 2024 FIFA Futsal World Cup Elite round in Almere today.
"We began the game strong, with more opportunities to score goals than our opponents. However, the Netherlands national team managed to score 3 out of 5-6 chances today, while our shots hit the goal post and didn't make it in. Although we're disappointed with the result, I want to thank my team for their effort. They fought until the end and did their best to turn the situation around, but it wasn't meant to be.
We finished the group stage with 4 points, which is not a reflection of our team's true strength. We could have scored at least 9 points if things had gone our way. There were games where we took a 2-goal lead but failed to hold on to it. Some of our players were unavailable due to injuries or suspensions, which made it difficult for us to perform at our best.
In the future, we plan to invite new players to join the team. We know we have to work hard and rebuild our team to achieve our goals".
