The next group games of the Schoolgirls Tournament, organized with the joint cooperation of AFFA and the Ministry of Science and Education, and the support of UEFA, have started. The matches were played in Sabail and Khatai regions.

The first matches of group A in Khatai district were held at the secondary school No. 56 which is selected as a center. Four teams competed. First, the teams of schools No. 55 and 27, and then the teams of schools No. 56 and 86 met.
The first matches of group B in Sabail district were organized at the selected center of secondary school No. 189-190, and 4 teams competed. First, the teams of schools No. 132-134 and 7, and then the teams of schools No. 8 and 6 met.
At the opening ceremony in Khatai district tournament, head of AFFA Women's Football Department Zumrud Aghayeva, head coach of Azerbaijan Women's national A- team Siyasat Askerov, and principal of school number 56 Konul Huseynova spoke and wished success to all participants.
The Schoolgirls Tournament is a pilot project intended for girls aged 7-9. Initially, this season the project is planned to be held in 2 regions - 20 selected public and private schools in Baku and 10 schools in Lankaran. The main goal of organizing the tournament is to create an interest in football among girls from an early age by creating the AFFA U-10 Girls League next season and to attract new football players to the national teams in the lower age group in the future.
