Habib Aghayev, head coach of Azerbaijan Women's Under-19 team, expressed his views to the AFFA press service about the training camp in Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan.
He said he was satisfied with the team's trainings: “The training camp was very useful for the team. We played two friendly matches against Uzbekistan Women’s U-20 team, which is older than my players, and these matches gave our players important international experience. Overall, I am satisfied with the team's attitude and performance during the training camp. This training camp was a valuable development experience for many players.”
The head coach of the Under-19 team also evaluated the friendly matches against Uzbekistan (3-2, 0-4): “In the first match, my players showed character and discipline. Even though the opponent tied the score and we were outnumbered, the girls managed to rally and win. This is an indicator of team spirit and the right approach to the game. In the second match, fatigue and limited rotation opportunities took their toll, and as a result, we lost. Nevertheless, such matches are an important part of the trainings and show us what we need to work on in the future.”
