Head coach of Azerbaijan Women's national team, Siyasat Asgarov, expressed his views at the post-match press conference after the match (2-0) against North Macedonia at Dalga Arena within the 2027 FIFA World Cup qualifying round:
“It was a great day. Of course, it was a difficult game. We wanted to win and we are proud that we managed to do it. I would like to thank my players. We made mistakes in the first 20 minutes of the match, but the team got a grip. We knew that the opponent would put pressure on us in the second half. We had to be extremely careful. Because the opponent would attack the equalizer and make a mistake somewhere. The girls showed character until the end and scored the second goal and we won”.
Siyasat Asgarov said that they are also aiming to return with a successful result from the away match against Hungary on March 7: “It is very difficult to recover in a short time. There are losses in our squad, 3 of my players are out of the squad due to their injuries. Now we have a long trip to Hungary. We are aware of the opponent's strength, and there are players with high individual quality in their squad. Despite this, we aim to return from Hungary with at least a draw”.
