The ordinary meeting of AFFA Executive Committee was organized at SOCAR Headquarters on November 25, 2025.
AFFA President Rovshan Najaf provided information about the meeting's agenda.
Then, the issues on the agenda were discussed.
First, the report of head coach of Azerbaijan National team Aykhan Abbasov on the recent matches of the national A-team played within the 2026 FIFA World Cup European qualifying round was heard. The performance of the national team was discussed in details, and views were exchanged on future matches.
Then, AFFA Executive Vice President Sarkhan Hajiyev provided information on preparations for the 2027 FIFA U-20 World Championship, which will be co-hosted by Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan. The work and plans to be done in connection with the preparation process were also discussed.
AFFA General Secretary Jahangir Farajullayev provided general information on refereeing. His presentation was listened to, the current situation in refereeing was reviewed and a number of structural changes were adopted. According to the change, Frank de Bleecker, Chairman of Referees Committee, will henceforth act as Advisor to the General Secretary on International Refereeing and Referees Training and Education.
At the meeting, the candidacy of Rahim Hasanov for the position of Chairman of Referees Committee was nominated and approved by the unanimous decision of the members of the Executive Committee.
In addition, the application of Zaur Akhundov to resign from AFFA Executive Committee at his own request was accepted.
Zumrud Aghayeva and Murad Mammadov, who are new candidates for vacant positions in the AFFA Disciplinary Committee, were approved.
The licensing rules for the season 2026/2027 have also been approved.
