Head coach of Azerbaijan Women’s national football team, Siyasat Asgarov, expressed his views after the match against Bangladesh Women’s team (2-1) played within the FIFA Tri Nations Women’s Football Series 2025 in Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh:
“I would like to express my gratitude to the Bangladeshi side for organizing such a tournament. The people here also welcomed us very well.
As for the match, our opponent was quite strong. In my opinion, they should have defeated Malaysia in the first match. One mistake in that match was decisive. The Bangladesh team was well prepared for the match, they wanted to win. In the first 15 minutes, they put pressure on us everywhere on the pitch, they made us have difficult moments. They are a team that is distinguished by their unique counter-attacking football. Although we opened the score, we soon saw a goal in our own goal. Because the opponent was doing everything to stand out. In the second half, they performed better.
However, our defenders performed well and prevented the opponent's attacks. We changed the game plan and made substitutions. We also saw the benefit of this. I think both teams played an interesting game and the fans who came to the stadium did not regret it. It was a celebration for women's football. Both the Bangladesh Football Federation and AFFA gained something from this celebration.”
Note that Azerbaijan Women’s national team beat Malaysia (2-0) and Bangladesh (2-1) and became the winner of the FIFA Tri Nations Women's Football Series 2025.
