Head coach of Azerbaijan Women’s national football team, Siyasat Asgarov, expressed his views to the AFFA press service after the match against Malaysia (2-0) to be played within the FIFA Tri Nations Women’s Football Series 2025 Tournament held in Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh:
“The Malaysian Women’s national team beat the Bangladesh Women’s team. If they had beaten us, they would have won the tournament. That's why they were highly motivated for the match. We had also analyzed the opponent's previous matches. We knew their positive and negative aspects, and the game plans were the same. There were two different halves. We scored some spectacular goals in the first half. We worked on both goals during trainings. We could have scored one more goal before the break. We had 100% scoring opportunities in the second half. We gave the young players a chance during the matches. I think our main weakness was that we couldn't take advantage of the scoring opportunities. This could cause us problems in the qualifiers. We will try to prepare better for the match against Bangladesh”.
Note that Azerbaijan Women’s national football team will play the last match of the tournament against Bangladesh on December 2.
