Azerbaijan played two matches during the day. In the first half of the day, our team faced Chile and lost 3-1. In the evening, Azerbaijan took on Gibraltar and secured a 5-1 victory.
AFFA President Rovshan Najaf and FIFA President Gianni Infantino visited the Hovsan Competition Complex and watched the day's matches. Pierluigi Collina, Chairman of the FIFA Referees Committee, was also among the guests watching the games. They met with the players, spoke to the young footballers and wished them success for the remainder of the tournament.
As the tournament approaches its final days, the competition on the pitches is becoming more intense and the pace of the matches is increasing. In every game, the young footballers strive to demonstrate their skills, gain new experience and represent their teams to the best of their abilities.
One of the key features of the FIFA U-15 World Cup and Festival format is that all participating teams continue playing until the final day of the tournament, regardless of their results. A defeat does not mean the end of the tournament for any team. Every participant is given the opportunity to play as many matches as possible, face teams from different footballing backgrounds and gain international experience.
This approach highlights the tournament's philosophy, which goes beyond results and competition to emphasise the joy of football, learning, development and building new friendships. Although the young footballers who have travelled to Baku from different countries compete against one another on the pitch, their shared love of football brings them together off it.
Family members, friends and football fans watching the matches from the stands have also become part of the tournament's special atmosphere. The supporters' applause for the young players' achievements and efforts further enhances the festival spirit on the pitches.
On 28 October, the first day of the tournament's final stage, a total of 192 matches were played at the Hovsan Competition Complex. A further 192 matches are scheduled for 29 October, followed by 90 matches on 30 October.
The FIFA U-15 World Cup and Festival 2026 will conclude on 30 October with six final matches at Baku Crystal Hall.
