The futsal tournament dedicated to the 103rd anniversary of the birth of the National Leader Heydar Aliyev, jointly organized by the Association of Football Federations of Azerbaijan (AFFA) and Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) within the UEFA Hat-Trick Programme, has concluded.
The tournament among the student teams from different faculties of the university was of great importance in terms of revitalizing intra-university sports life and promoting a healthy lifestyle among students. The decisive games of the competition took place on the futsal field of the gym of Azerbaijan Technical University.
In the match for third place, the team of the Faculty of Transport and Logistics defeated the team of the Faculty of Information and Communication Technology 2-0 and became the bronze medalist of the tournament. In the final match, the team of the Faculty of Economics faced the team of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Metallurgy. The team of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Metallurgy defeated the opponent 2-0 after extra time and became the winner of the tournament.
In the end, the winning team was awarded a trophy by AFFA, and the teams that took the first three places were awarded with corresponding medals. In addition, the players who distinguished themselves in the tournament were awarded special prizes in various nominations.
Former football player Vali Gasimov, Head of the Communication Department of Azerbaijan Technical University Safa Bagirov and other officials attended the awarding ceremony. They congratulated the winning and award-winning teams and presented trophies and prizes.
The organization of such tournaments is of particular importance in terms of increasing interest in football among young people, developing grassroots football, and effectively organizing students' leisure time.
AFFA and AzTU plan to implement joint projects in this direction in the future.
